Billy was frustrated because he was trying to tell them that 1/5 of 25 is 5 and they thought it was 14. I had a connection because when I was trying to help people with math and they thought it was something else I had to explain it to them so many times.
Billy was frustrated because he was trying to show and tell his parents that 1/5 of 25 is 5, and his parents were trying to show him by adding , dividing and multiplying that 1/5 of 25 was 14. 5 divided by 25 is 5 and 5x5=25. Billy was tired of trying to show them that is why he was so frustrated.
Billy was frustrated because he was correct by thinking that 5x5=25 but his parents thought it was 14. I made a connection because when I tried to teach someone something they didn't get it.
I think that Billy was frustrated because he knew that 5x5=25 I guess his parents had a misconception of the answer. They thought that the correct answer was 14! I know where they are coming from though because some times I think of an answer and it makes a lot of sense to me. But after someone shows me the correct way, I could see how my methods were incorrect. I feel bad for Billy for haivng to go through that but maybe next time they will get it!
Billy was mad because when pa did the addition he thought each number was individual like 4+4+4+4+4+1+1+1+1+1=25 I have a connection because when I was doing math my friend didn't get long division so I showed him how to do it but he kept saying I was wrong
The way the old man did his addition, multiplication, and division were misconceptions as they were wrong. I think Billy was getting frustrated because he knew he was right but when he tried to explane his thinking the old man would stop him and get a wrong answer.
Rebecca, I liked how you explained how frustrated Billy was when he tried to make his parents understand the correct math.I really wish that you made a connection to the math situation if you ever experienced anything close to what Billy felt.
Billy was frustrated because Ma and Pa Kettle were doing the math wrong. They wouldn't listen to Billy and thought they should get 14% which is a lot more than 5%. Ma and Pa Kettle were doing the equations out of order.
Billy is frustrated because when he is trying to show Ma and Pa that 25 divided by 5 is 5 they say it's 14. This is because when he shows them what 5 14 make they count the 10s as 1s but put them in the 10s column.
Some misconceptions that were in the video were subtraction, division, and addition.I think Billy got frustrated because he was trying to explain the right answer of the question which was 5.Instead his parents got a different answer which was 14 and they were trying to convince him that it is right.

DeleteI like how you used words but i wish you explained what you ment in more then 1 way.
DeleteThank you for sharing.
The old man was wrong because the 5 dose not go into the 20 when dividing but into the 25 and 5 divided by 25 is 5.
ReplyDeleteSo every one gets 5%
also 14+14+14+14+14=70 not 25
DeletePa was wrong because 14+14+14+14+14=70 and 5 divided by 25 equal 5

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Elaina because, 25 Divided by 5 is five and 5,10,15,20,25 there is 5 groups so that's the answer.
